We have a lot to be proud of at CrossFit Oakdale.  I haven’t gotten to take the time to highlight some recent performances, so here goes. Christina Scott and Jack O both advanced to the Quarterfinals out of the open.  They both improved on their performances from the Open into quarters: Scott moved from the top 8k to the top 4k in the world.  Jack O moved from 7k to 6k.  Great job! Over the weekend, Jack H, Denny and I took on the age group quarter finals.  I moved from the top 900 to the top 350, Jack H finished 81st in the world (35th in the US) and 23rd on the CrossFit total.  He totaled 406/166/436/1008.  That’s pretty close to a CFO record! I am always happy to see our athletes improve as the workouts get harder. It shows that we have developed broad fitness while refining high...

Time to decide! Are you Team Kettlebell Swings or Team Lunges? Whichever team you pick, you will perform max effort reps for the next three weeks. The total reps per team will be divided by the amount of team members. Winners get to be honored in a team portrait to be hung on the walls of CrossFit Oakdale, that will last in perpetuity. Each member will also receive a certificate to choose ALL of the music for one class session. Challenge is Free for unlimited members, $10 all other athletes. Before I get into HOW we did as a gym, I would like to look at WHAT we did. First, I am obsessed with CrossFit tests. I always have been.  It started with the named workouts, then when the Games started in 2007 and especially 2008, I really dug into the specific tests and how to program for them.  Post Open is an excellent time to look back on the tests of the year, what we did well, where we could improve to be better prepared and come up with a path for the future. Second, it is easy to complain about workouts, programming standards, your mother-in0law, the weather, yada yada yada.  But, when you choose to play CrossFit, you are accepting that the test is basically anything, and any curveball  (scuffed, spit on, spider tacked) that can be thrown is fair game. I think I have always been reactionary...

The 2022 CrossFit Games Open is over. At least the first three weeks. If you haven’t spent the last 72 hours on the leaderboard app, don’t worry. We have. Before we get into what happens next, we want to push back the end of the Open Part-tay. We have decided to do it AFTER the quarterfinals – March 27th at noon. At the party, we will announce MVP’s of each week. Our teams racked up some points with their outfits, Insta posts and attacking workouts multiple times. Congratulations to The Winners! Their total point score was 1420. The Wolverines came in second place with 1311 and the Vanilla Vaqueros with 1195. The highest point earner is The Winners Team Leader Justin E, with 233 points, followed closely by teammate Austin T with 231 points. Highest earner for the Vanilla Vaqueros is Lizzy (American) with 193 points. The Wolverine highest point...
