Quarterfinals and More!

We have a lot to be proud of at CrossFit Oakdale.  I haven’t gotten to take the time to highlight some recent performances, so here goes.

Christina Scott and Jack O both advanced to the Quarterfinals out of the open.  They both improved on their performances from the Open into quarters: Scott moved from the top 8k to the top 4k in the world.  Jack O moved from 7k to 6k.  Great job!

Over the weekend, Jack H, Denny and I took on the age group quarter finals.  I moved from the top 900 to the top 350, Jack H finished 81st in the world (35th in the US) and 23rd on the CrossFit total.  He totaled 406/166/436/1008.  That’s pretty close to a CFO record!

I am always happy to see our athletes improve as the workouts get harder. It shows that we have developed broad fitness while refining high level skills.

Denny was a star over the weekend, finishing 24th in the world, and is sitting in a qualifying spot for the world semis.  Denny locked this spot by taking 9th in 2 workouts and 13th in another.  He even threw in a Deadlift PR of 406. They take the top 30 to semis, and in a month they will take it down to 10.  These 10 animals will get to compete in Madison at the Games.  Incredible work to Denny and a huge congratulations my brother!

Not to be outdone, Christian and Austin T (who both just missed the open quarters) competed in Turlock over the weekend, taking 4th in a tough field.  Local comps are always tough, with inconsistent judging, varying degrees of understanding fitness and other drama. I’m always proud of how well CrossFit Oakdale athletes move and compete.  Christian and Austin stole the show in a great final, taking out the number 1 seed in a bracket style event.  They acted as spoilers, and barely lost out to the eventual winners to close out the day.  Great work boys and thank you to your friends and families for coming out to represent CFO!

Finally, we will begin a 12 week squat program this week.  It is the famous Hatch program.  Week 1 will be squatting on Tuesday  and Friday.  Week 2 will be squats on Monday and Thursday.  We will keep alternating each week.
