Click picture to get your tickets! This week is Thanksgiving. I couldn’t be more grateful for all that is in my life. I am surrounded by people who are thoughtful, fun, strong and ready for anything that gets thrown at them. I am ready for some end of the year fun, parties and upcoming white elephants. I am ready to say good bye to 2022 and roll gracefully into 2023.  What I am  not ready for is the disruption of schedules and the flood of the 3 C’s – cookies, candies and cocktails – that I might not have the willpower to stave off.  Changes in schedule – kids home from school or time off of work- can be enough to throw life out of whack. Now we add in more time needed to cook & clean, holiday shopping and of course spending time with loved ones (not a chore...

CrossFit is hard In the CrossFit game of musical chairs, Denny found himself as the last man with a seat of our 30 plus CrossFit Oakdale Games aspirants four months ago.  Through 3 Open workouts and 6 quarterfinals tests, Denny earned the opportunity to be a world semi-finalist in his age category.  Like the semi-finals many of you are watching, Denny had to complete 6 burly tests over the course of one weekend.  To complicate matters slightly, and to make a fair playing field, the workouts had to be completed in a 24 hour window, and verified with video and a password to ensure you didn’t cheat, and do the workout a week ago. Denny effectively started CrossFit at 40 years and was a fit, but he will admit – a fairly weak, athlete. He had a great engine and attitude, but strength was not a part of his game. ...

A few weeks ago, we set out on a challenge of Lunging vs. Swinging. It might have been more of a mental challenge, especially when we flipped it and double the challenge time. The first few weeks we went strong. Butts grew out of pants and abs were making their way to the surface. Congratulations to the Swinger of part 1 of the challenge. There were 12 people on the KB Swing team who picked up that cannonball a total of 17,229 times. Average per person was 1435.75 swings. The top Swinger was Terri Taylor with a whopping 3500 kettlebell swings. Second place went to Mitch with 3000 and third place was Gloria’s with 2200 swings. Part 1 for the Lungers was pretty exciting as well. Totaling 14,688 lunges for a team of 13 people broke down to 1129.85 lunges per person. Not too shabby! Top athlete with the most...

Dear AWESOME ATHLETE: It has been so wonderful to get back into the swing of things since before Winter of 2020.  Thank you for your adjustment to change in 2020 and the changes that have been coming. Not all changes were bad, cleaning of equipment and the scheduling of classes have been the best changes to come out of it all.  We have taken down the tape squares and have been able to get back to using the gym floor like we used to. We are lucky to have coaches that are creative and thoughtful in their warmups. Because of this, we are asking that you refrain from setting up your spaces/grab equipment before class starts. The coaches will let you know what they want you to grab and when. It is all a part of their flow:) Also important is communicating with your coach injuries and schedules. If you...

We, as coaches, get to know our athletes better through coaching. We have opportunities to learn about you in finding out about your day, you life, the things that affect how your training session is going to go. You might not get to know as much about us as coaches, so we wanted to give you the opportunity to learn more about us. Our first Ask Me Anything is with Brian. If you haven’t been around the gym for long, you might not know that Brian qualified/competed at Regionals (and what regionals was BEFORE it was regionals) 6 times. He has been coaching since 2008. He is a CrossFit OG. Check out this video to learn what other people wanted to know. Next Up : Coach Christian! Click HERE to ask your question:)
