This is a 11 minute workout breakdown for a 7 minute workout that had 1 simple, bodyweight movement.  Just when you think you have things mastered, break it down to smaller pieces, and really dig into the details. Some of our coaches *cough*Tim*cough*Wendy*cough*Jess*cough* have a bunch of burpees coming up.  Some more than others.  If you would like to see some coaches up their burpee total, keep dropping those bucks. I had some really miserable burpee workouts a few weeks ago.  I just felt like my movement was breaking down and I wasn’t crisp.  So I’ve been breaking it down, practicing in small bits, 3-4 times a week.  I’ve been trying to do quality burpees, getting plenty of rest, and really practicing the bend/snap and jump/land. And we’re not even doing Burpees tomorrow… Workout of the Day Push Jerk Build to a heavy single in 20 minutes Conditioning AMRAP 6...

Next Wednesday we will have one final push for our Barbells for Boobs Fundraiser. Shakin’ it up, trying something new, we will have Lara Astle come in and give a UJam (Zumba style) Class. EVERYONE should be there – guys, girls, kids, EVERYONE! We are looking for a $10 donation and all proceeds will go to Barbells for Boobs, and in turn, to Burpees for Coaches. If you are not a current member of CrossFit Oakdale, there will be a raffle for a free month of unlimited CrossFit Classes, including our ROMWOD mobility class. For our current members, and non members, there will be a raffle for the Barbells for Boobs t-shirt and windbreaker that we earned for our donations. Please bring friends, family members, and neighbors! Just a heads up – Tim is just over 500 burpees. So close to 1000.  Workout of the Day 21-18-15-12-9-6-3 Toes to Bar...

CrossFit Oakdale had a great night at CrossFit Parabellum in Turlock on Saturday night.  We had 10 teams, and 20 athletes compete – Denny pulled double duty and did the workout twice.  Austin, Brad C., Maegan and Michelle B. did their first competitive workouts outside CFO.  Will won the 11-13  boys burpee competition and Blake and I won the Rx Plus division.  Will and Blake were first timer winners. CFP raised over $8,000 for Barbells for Boobs.  We will keep raising dollars for Barbell for Boobs – one buck, one burpee at a time. This week we will test our overhead lifts – 3 times.  Monday we will max the Push Press, Wednesday the Push Jerk and Friday is the Split Jerk.  No Handstand work this week, as we will try to keep the shoulders relatively fresh for the big overhead lifts. Workout of the Day Strength Push Press Build...

Back to our sports movie bracket.  Thank you for for voting on the board. Rudy Ruddiger beats out Steve Prefontaine in a battle of 70s sports hero that no one really heard of until they made movies about them. Rudy moves onto the Sweet 16. The Cutters and cyclists of Breaking Away pull away from Seabiscuit. In an upset, The Sandlot takes down and Oscar nominated film – Chariots of Fire.  The Sandlot has legs, and it’s cheeseball, baseball meets Stand By Me has become a modern classic, up there with a Christmas Story. Bull Durham beats out Dodgeball.  These movies are strangely similar – charismatic, world weary leaders (Coster and Vaughn) showing a team of rejects how to win.  But I guess Nuke is a more fun character than any wannabe sports guy in Dodgeball. So, in the Sweet 16, we will see Rudy battle Breaking Away and Bull...
