If you haven’t had a chance to check out #cfobingo2020 please do. It makes me smile every time. Our bingo players have been hard at work, crossing off squares, and really doing just ridiculous things that I put on there. But my favorite is reading the ones where people have taken time to get to know things about each other that they might not have. Even if you aren’t in the Bingo, take the time to get to know each other. Our community is pretty awesome. Come on. This dog is AWESOME. This is hard to write. Coach Jess has been a staple around the pullup rig or the rings for the past few years. I call her the “muscle-up whisperer.” If you want a muscle up, she will guide you up there, physically and mentally. It has been wonderful to watch her grow a coach and an athlete. Coaching classes of the magic number of 17 people became old hat. No one trained harder on handstands and handstand walking, meeting her goal of long distance handstand walking. She practices what she preaches. She has judged many a competition, and many competitive moments with her beastly husband, Bryce, who has been a staple throughout the gym as well. Brooke and Scott took on “The Hazing” at Another Level CrossFit in Lodi on Saturday. Nearly 40 women took on this competition geared towards athletes with 2 years or less of CrossFit experience. Just because folks don’t have two years of experience doesn’t mean they aren’t really, really fit. Brooke took 3rd overall and Scott took 10th. Scott took 7th in the first and second workout and got hit with a little bit of weight – workouts that didn’t lend to her skills. Brooke overcame a 12th place finish in the first workout and 11th second to advance to the finals sitting in second place, demolishing a thruster/burpee workout and being one of 3 women to complete the clean and jerk ladder. Festivus Games are back on April 18th. They hail it as “A Competition for the Rest of Us.” You know how much we love Festivus here. Feats of Strength… the Airing of Grievances… sound like it is time to bring the pole out from the crawl space. No worries, we will only be celebrating the feat of strength.
