The first stage of the CrossFit Games took place in the strange world of COVID restrictions. There was still great drama and some great surprises. Justin Medeiros, originally from Lodi took 3rd and will be competing on a grand stage in one month.
We did the Fran and Diane workouts on Friday and Saturday. They were very tough workouts, but doable. The versions of Annie and Nancy were probably not possible to complete as prescribed in any viable time cap for 99.5% of the worldwide CrossFit community. The strict deficit HSPU in Diane were gnarly, but 75 Overhead squats at 185/125 (with almost 2 miles of running) and 15 cleans at 275/185 (along with 150 GHD situps) make these workouts pretty tough.
That’s not to say we won’t do them! Everything is scalable – we will save Nancy for Saturday – I think its a 30 minute one – and do a version Annie next week.
