SPOTLIGHT ATHLETE – Gina

If you’re part of the 9:00 AM crew, here you know Gina. And every so often we get to see her in an evening class. She is tough. She is strong. She works hard. Gina has battled back from an injury or two in the recent months. She would come in and do whatever it took to protect her injury while at the same time getting a workout in. Here’s a little bit more on Gina…..
How were you introduced to CFO? When did you realize CrossFit was for you?
I did a boot camp next door for a while and CF was calling to me. I had to force myself not to stare in on a daily basis. Then Vanessa talked to me about it and 2 seconds later I was there and loving it!
What is your first impression?
Holy *hit I’ve got a lot of work to do! But I definitely knew I’d enjoy the challenge.
What do like best about going to CrossFit Oakdale?
2 reasons: 1. For the workouts 2. For the people It’s the best of both worlds. I get to do workouts that I’d never push myself to do along with some of the best people I know!
I have always wanted to…..
I’ve always wanted to go to Nashville. I’d love to sit in a few dive bars and listen to some kick-ass music. [this would be a fun trip. wink wink]
One word people use to describe me:
Happy
Outside of the gym I like to…..
Pretty simple…spend time with my family and friends.
Three things in my fridge:
Eggs, no rx tortillas and Crystal hot sauce
The last thing you ate:
Chicken tacos. Used almond flour tortillas and topped them with spinach and salsa. WLC approved!
Something know one knows about me or would be surprised to know:
I ran two marathons
Favorite physical activity outside of CrossFit Oakdale:
Not sure if this counts because I never get to do it but play volleyball and softball. I golf occasionally but that’s a love/hate relationship. [I bet you’re a hoot on the golf course]
Favorite place to eat:
It’s so weird that I’m drawing a blank on this one since going out to dinner is one of my favorite things to do in life. I guess locally it would be RAW in Modesto.
Proudest accomplishment:
My kids.
If you could invite anybody to dinner:
Doreen Virtue – That way I could really be having dinner with my grandparents who’ve passed away! (She’s a spiritual medium)
Favorite workout attire:
Duh….my headband!
