Hello Shelley!

SPOTLIGHT ATHLETE at CFO
Shelley R. is CFO’s spotlight athlete. Shelley is a treat to coach. She is a sponge….soaking up all she can and trying to get better. Shelley is unassuming and getting strong. Here’s a a little bit more about Shelley.
How were you introduced to CFO? When did you realize CrossFit was for you?
Amanda Hensley introduced me to CFO. I told her I wanted to get back into shape after
having 3 babies and not doing any kind of real workout regiment in over 5 and 1/2 years.
I realized it was for me after the first introductory workout. I loved the intensity, the people,
the environment, and that it was very different than anything I had ever done before. I was
hooked!
What is your first impression?
My first impression was “this is hard but awesome!” It felt like a community, one that I
wanted to be a part of.
What do like best about going to CrossFit Oakdale?
I like it all. The staff and other members are all friendly, helpful, and motivating. They
made me feel comfortable and inspired to want to get back in shape. I love that my kids
go, and love to watch. It is a healthy environment.
I have always wanted to…..
I have always wanted to go to Maine and stay in a house on the coast.
One word people use to describe me:
Humble
Outside of the gym I like to…..
Outside of the gym I like to be with my family. They are my world and life is short.
Three things in my fridge:
Watermelon, chicken, cookies and much much more! lol
The last thing you ate:
Almonds (salt & vinegar flavor)
Something know one knows about me or would be surprised to know:
That is hard to say. I was in the US Air Force for four years. I think that usually surprises
people if the topic comes up.
Favorite physical activity outside of CrossFit Oakdale:
Probably jogging. I am not quick, but it is like meditation for me.
Favorite place to eat:
Given the limited choices in our area and having four kids, I would have to say Outback
Steak House.
Proudest accomplishment:
Being the mother of four boys! And, being the first in my family to complete college with
a Masters degree in Education.
If you could invite anybody to dinner:
Good question! This is hard. Right now in my life, I would have to say President Obama.
Favorite workout attire:
Yoga pants, and a tank top.
