CrossFit Oakdale hopes you had a restful and merry Christmas!  We’ll resume classes on Monday.  We’ll have CrossFit classes at 9am, health 5:30 and 6:30pm, more about with open gym at 4:30pm.  There will be no 6am class on Monday, but we plan on having 6am classes on Wednesday and Friday.  If schedules are still slow, I may hold the 6am classes at 7am.  Once the new year rolls around, I hope to have a steady 6am class.   Alison got some Inov8 shoes for Christmas.  If you’ve known me for more than a few minutes, you know that I am a shoe hound.  If you’re new to CrossFit, you may notice that very few of us wear “normal” running shoes (by normal, I mean a thick, cushion-y heel).  We generally seek out a flat, “low-profile” or “minimalist” running shoes.  We do this for many reasons, some of which are: they are...

Thank you to everyone who came out for our first Christmas WOD and Potluck. Great work out and even better food and drink! Thank you to everyone who brought food to share. My favorite part of the night was looking around and seeing so many people wearing CrossFit Oakdale Sweatshirts, symptoms sharing food and stories. Good times. Tomorrow’s schedule is as follows: No kids class in the morning. Thursday will be the next kids class. 9am-11am is open gym. Come and work on strengths and weaknesses.

Hey there…the tone of this post may seem a little different…this is Alison and my first official “what is on my mind” post for CrossFit Oakdale. So here we go. What I have seen in the past few weeks has blown my mind. We have some amazing members and I am proud to workout with all of you. The positive attitudes that have walked through our rollup door are ones that I am learning to feed off of. I love the spirit of “It is FREEZING but 3.2.1 GO!” Then it turns out it is not as cold as we thought. Multiple times in the dark didn’t stop us either. We are people who don’t stop because something has changed. We don’t take a step back when things get tough. We push through the pain to enjoy the pleasure of a job well done, cost knowing we pushed beyond what...

On Tuesday, erectile I lost the Christmas cookie battle.  I will live again to fight another day, but I wanted to share my experiences.  I have exactly been crushing nutrition recently.  It’s cold, produce isn’t as exciting this time of year, I’ve done some traveling and attended parties.  All these factors have led to some poor nutritional decisions.  I’m not beating myself up mind you, but I am aware of my mis-steps.   Usually, work is my strong hold for nutrition.  I pack my food, normally lunch and 2 snacks.  I am very disciplined about my eating during the week.  This Tuesday, the wheels kind of came off.  A friend did cookies as part of their family Christmas cards, and around 10am, I decided, “What the hell” and had 2 in the car.  When I got to my other office, SOMEONE had left a Costco cookie tray by the bosses...

CrossFit Oakdale is looking forward to our “Twas the Night before the Night Before Christmas”.  We plan on doing the Throwdown Series “12 Nights of Christmas WOD”.  FYI – this one is a TAD complicated.  Ok, website it’s complicated, but it’s fun, with a ton of movement.  I ran through it Monday, and I would suggest a mental “run-through”.  Please sign up on the whiteboard or on Facebook if you plan to attend.   CrossFit Kids Oakdale will hold our first annual Christmas WOD on Thursday at 4pm.  Please RSVP on Facebook if you plan to attend.   As I posted on Sunday night, I attended the CrossFit Goal Setting Seminar over the weekend.  Being a contrarian by nature, I enjoyed this look by Brian at Potomac CrossFit and his anti-goal setting stance.  Different strokes for different folks, huh!   7 Reasons Women Should Strength Train.  I know this is...
