Wednesday CrossFit Oakdale will have a normal AM schedule, pill but we will only have 1 PM workout at 5:30pm.  This workout will be followed by a Potluck Dinner.  We hope to see you there. CrossFit Oakdale will be closed on Thursday for Thanksgiving. We will be open for 1 WOD on Friday at 9am. The WOD is “Clovis.”  Think about scaling options.  If you have any questions, page please ask a coach about scaling options. Saturday will be normal hours (9am and 10am). I lived in Phoenix, website AZ as an elementary school kid.  We were very active in sports, site but I wouldn’t say we led an “active” or fitness lifestyle.  In 3rd or 4th grade, pills my best friend was a really fast kid, and his parents were “reformed” hippies.  Our families became close, and they started a sort of family tradition.  They would do a hike in the Phoenix area the day after Thanksgiving, to work off all the food.  I’m pretty sure we hiked Shadow Mountain one year and Camelback the next.  Generally these hikes took 2-4 hours.  I distinctly remember bitching at my parents for taking us on these hikes, but looking back, I don’t think they were too thrilled either.  They did it because they knew it was good for the kids, and it was good for them.   Quick story:  At the base of one of...

The week of Thanksgiving CrossFit Oakdale will have adjusted training hours.   Monday and Tuesday will be normal hours.   Wednesday will be normal in the AM.  There will only be 1 WOD in the evening @ 5:30pm followed by a Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner.  Please come out!   Thursday CFO will be closed.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving!   Friday there will only be 1 WOD @ 9am.  The WOD will be “Clovis.”  This is an extreme WOD, sick BUT IT IS SCALABLE!  I will talk more about this tomorrow.   Tricia will be coaching on Saturday, dosage with Bring a Friend at 9am and Team CFO @ 10am.   Due to the fact that the week is a little different, visit this we will take a break from our normal strength work.  The WODs may be heavy or require skills, but we’ll work those skills/scaling options into the warm-up.  This...

Both 9am and 10am will be doing the same WOD, visit this the OC Throwdown Qualifier #2. AMRAP 5 30 Squat Clean and Jerks 155/100 30 Bar Facing Burpees Even getting to the bar facing burpees is an accomplishment.  If you can get back to the clean and jerks, purchase you are superhuman. At 10am, we will start with a strength session – 1 Squat Clean and Jerk, EMOM for 10. After we knock this out, I would love to play some Ultimate Football.  We can play in the rain, I would just bring some not so great shoes along with your normal training shoes.

CrossFit Games Analysis This site was called to my attention last year.  I wish I would have book marked it.  Real statistical analysis of athletes, sale events, ampoule and scoring!  Anders uses math to identify trends and to predict future movements and weights that may come up. It’s interesting that the Snatch plays so prominently, huh?  In the first 3 years of the CrossFit Games, the Deadlift was the primary lift tested (’07, ’08 and ’09). Each competition had events that rewarded great Deadlifters.  We’ve seen the Deadlift de-emphasized (it wasn’t tested in the Open and barely tested at Regionals) while the Snatch was tested in Opens, Regionals and the Games in multiple ways.  The Snatch was barely tested in the ’09 Games, but it has crept up as the primary lift tested in competitions.  Did you every watch the video of James Khalipa blowing up on “Amanda” in the...
