The FTF Affiliate Challenge is this Saturday (and possibly Sunday).  We have a bunch of athletes competing, prostate so the gym will be closed.  The event is not being held at their gym on Saturday as in previous years, prostate but at the Valdez Hall, 705 M Street, Fresno Convention Center, Fresno, CA 93720.  This is down town Fresno. If you are coming to watch, this may afford you an opportunity to eat at one of my favorite restaurants in all of California, George’s Shish Kebob.  George’s is located in the Galleria near the Federal Courthouse, and I know they are open for breakfast on Saturday’s.  Their French Toast is World Class. On another foodie note…We are lucky enough to have a local family that produces high quality USDA certified organic products for over 20 years. Stueve’s Organic Dairy is currently marketing their beef, eggs, dairy and olive oil through Organic...

Registration is Live for the CrossFit Games Open!  It’s $20 to sign up and throw your hat in the ring.  I’ll be registering CrossFit Oakdale as a team in the coming days.  It sounds like there were some issues earlier, ailment so be patient.  In 2011, doctor there was so much excitement in announcing the first WOD the whole website crashed from everyone trying to log on at once.  Yeah, more about people like CrossFit…   I got a nasty little cold that has laid me up over the last 48 hours.  One of the great things about having a high level of fitness is I rarely get sick – this was my first real sickness in over 2 years.  One of the bad things about getting sick, is when I do, it FLOORS me.  Don’t tell anyone, but I become a big baby when I get sick.   I...

We’re blessed with some pretty cool members at CFO.  It was a stressful night in Oakdale on Tuesday with the law enforcement activity, seek but everyone dealt with the lock in and the late cancellation like pro’s.  Everyone looked after each other and had each other’s backs.  We’re lucky to have several law enforcement officers (and firefighters) among our ranks.  We had one athlete getting ready to workout when he dropped what he was doing and responded to the emergency in town.  I’m sure he didn’t even think about it – it’s what these guys do.  Make sure you thank a cop if see them.  It’s an honor to train you ladies and gentlemen.  Thanks for keeping us safe!   On a different note, unhealthy we have a couple of competitions coming up – the FTF Affiliate Challenge and the Valentine’s Couple Competition.  One of the great by products of...

The CrossFit Games Open is just over a month away.  Over the next 6 weeks, recipe I’ll be adding in some the previous the Open WODs to the programming.  Generally, # sale we’ll hit 1 or 2 of these a week until the Open hits. If you are considering competing, generic I would not recommend scaling at all, and if you can, have a friend judge you.  Even if you are not considering competing, I would recommend doing these WODs as close to prescribed as possible – you may surprise yourself. Take today’s WOD for example: double unders and snatching.  Even if you only have 1 DU, I would recommend doing 1 at a time and getting to the snatches.  The snatch weight is light enough that most athletes can get 75/55 over head, even if that means clean and jerking the weight (the scoring allowed for this variation –...

Both teams won the 4th, price and most difficult WOD of the day – 40 deadlifts 335/205, 30 muscle ups and 20 push jerk 165/115, split it anyway you want.  Jen and Christine pulled 205 (a heavy deadlift for the both of them) safely, quickly and effectively and Jen carried the muscle ups to a first place finish.  Lou and I finished the deadlifts and the muscle ups, and I...
