The CrossFit Games NorCal Regionals are May 24-26 at the Sonoma County Fairgrounds.  Nick is competing and we hope to have news about more CrossFit Oakdale athletes competing next week.  The Regionals are a super fun event – we hang out in the sun, # 60mg cook out, talk trash and cheer on some great athletes.  It’s a different venue this year (previously we were in Santa Clara) but I’m pretty psyched to hang out in wine country.  Any chance of a burger at Taylor’s Automatic Refresher??? In the Completely Unsubstantiated Observation Department – We recently bought 5 dozen eggs from Stueve’s Farm in Albers and Claribel.  I mixed some of the eggs in a bowl to scramble them up, but I had some regular, store bought eggs left over so I threw them in.  The difference was shocking – the Stueve’s eggs were so much more colorful it was...

No one at CrossFit Oakdale is sponsored by any big time CrossFit companies.  If I could have one sponsorship, website it would be Chemex Coffee. Form is Function: The Chemex Story Tricia just picked one up, drug and she’s fully on the Chemex band wagon.  It’s basically a beaker with a paper filter that you pour boiled water over.  Many coffee folks claim 208 degrees is the ideal water temperature, so I let the water cool a little after boiling.  It’s a simple process and it takes a little bit longer, and is a little more involved than a coffee pot, but I honestly feel like I’m part of the process with every cup I make.  It’s one of my daily Zen rituals. The Chemex Coffee maker is all over the internet, but you can pick one up at Cost Plus World Market on Pelandale in Modesto for a little...

Now that the Open is over, dosage I wanted to pick apart the leader board a little bit, nurse highlight some memorable performances and yes, # beat our collective chests. CrossFit Oakdale finished 39th in the Region, 9 spots away from Regionals.  Last year our goal was to make the first page of the leader board (Top 60) and we just missed. This year, we nearly punched our ticket to Regionals.  CrossFit 209 Sport (Stockton) and CrossFit Lodi.  Looking at this years leader board, we’re one of the fittest gym’s in the Central Valley.  Sweet!  Our best WODs as a gym were the toughest – 13.3 (wall ball, double under, muscle up) and 13.5 (Fran forever).  They were the hardest WODs and required the most strategy.  Our worst WOD?  13.1, Burpee/Snatch.  Annnnd we’ll holding an Olympic lifting seminar this weekend.  Nick qualified for Regionals, placing 16th in NorCal, besting numerous...
