Stop Thinking, information pills Start Exercising from Headspace.  If you talk to me for a little bit, you may eventually hear me talk about Headspace, an app that I have been using to learn about, and how to meditate.  The practice that Headspace develops enhances mindfulness, also called awareness.  The practice teaches you how to become aware of your thoughts.  In becoming more aware of our passing thoughts, we begin to see thoughts are merely passing things.  More, this helps us learn that it’s not the thing – a traffic jam, a heavy barbell, a conflict with a co-worker, whatever – it’s how we respond to the thing that defines our experience. We love our Adult Athletes, purchase  but I have to give mad props (or whatever the youngsters are saying these days) to our Kid Athletes! Hannah W. has been with CrossFit Oakdale since the before the beginning. She works out and is a worker bee – refilling the fridge and sending out birthday cards. Last week she qualified for Sectionals in the High Jump, visit this competing for  Downey High School in Modesto. Today she hit 4’8″ in the High Jump!   Congratulations to Sonia H who finished as the 10K Overall Masters Female Runner in the Rina’s Run a few weeks ago. Sonia is working towards qualifying for the Boston Marathon. She trains daily – running, visit this site kickboxing and CrossFit. She started with us a few months ago and has made great strides in her lifting and gymnastics movement. Athlete Spotlight by Christine Clark When Steve walked into CrossFit Oakdale 3 months ago, erectile he was welcomed by a motley crew of 9AM enthusiasts. Since then he has grown by leaps and bounds. Steve has shown great dedication, not missing a single day of training. He is receptive to coaching and not afraid to ask clarifying questions…like a whole lot of questions. 🙂 Steve has five children and five grandchildren that he adores. He is a retired Special Education teacher turned CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate). When he is not volunteering time with foster youth, he enjoys playing the violin at Living Hope Christian Fellowship. On a side note Steve may be one of my favorite Masters Athletes, but I’m biased!!
