Athlete of the Month – Alexis

Athlete of the Month by Coach Tricia

D-E –T- E- R –M- I –N- E -D is most certainly an accurate word to describe Alexis B. HEY! Did you know that just the other day, ailment November 6, try Alexis got her first “legit bar muscle up”!! OH YEAH!!! She was persistent and most definitively DETERMINED. She had to be!

Her first muscle up is not too far off in the near future. Oh and watching her bust out a boat load of butterfly pull-ups at the recent Barbell for Boobs at CrossFit Excel was, healing in my opinion, the highlight of the evening. Way to go Alexis! Next time you see her give her a knuckle or high five. Here’s a bit more about Alexis….

How were you introduced to Crossfit Oakdale?

I was introduced to CrossFit Oakdale when I found out there was going to be a CrossFit gym in my hometown

When did you realize CrossFit was for you?

I realized CrossFit was for me when I got introduced to it by a friend of mine in 2011 who did it and said I would like it and be good at it.

How has CrossFit changed your life?

CrossFit has changed my life by constantly challenging me physically and mentally…and loving the outcome of it.

 Favorite workout/lift?

Favorite lift would have to be any squatting and favorite workout is Murph

 I have always wanted to…..

I have always wanted to be able to get my muscle up since starting CrossFit

One word people use to describe me…determined

Outside the gym I like to….. I enjoy watching dirt track racing and playing softball.

Three things you would ALWAYS find in my fridge…..cheese, salad stuff and salami

Favorite physical activity outside of CrossFit Oakdale….is riding my horses

Song that gets me pumped up for a workout… anything Eminem

The last thing I ate….chicken topped with broccoli, cheese soup, and rice.

Proudest accomplishment…. my 1st competition “Barbells for Boobs”, doing all the pull ups with the butterfly movement.

Keep it up Alexis – those ring muscle ups are right around the corner!
