Things that should have been said

WOW. So much reflection coming as I think way back to Saturday:) BTW this is Alison – you know, lots of emojis, run on sentences and flitting from topic to topic:)
The past 6 weeks have been a whirlwind of good. Good for our community, good for our coaches and good for reminding us that we can and will power through and find the best path through a bad place.

  1. Big thanks to Cathy White, aka badass Masters Athlete & B4B Ambassador, who brought this to light. A breast cancer survivor herself, Cathy was thoughtful of how to get through the burpees we performed yesterday. She said that the tired feeling, run down, like dear god another burpee might kill you feeling is how so many cancer patients feel everyday. Like a Hero WOD, Tim powered through 845 burpees with a determination and a motivation from that simple thought.
  2. You may not see her in the daylight (unless it is a school break), but Karen B. has battled and survived breast cancer and come through strong. She partnered up with Denny a few weeks ago at CrossFit Parabellum and rocked the WOD! Though I don’t get to train her often, I am always so proud of her determination to get her workout done, stay healthy and love life. She has been throwing around some heavy barbells these days, increasing weight (not just when Denny sneaks it on her barbell), getting stronger. Thank you Karen for being a beautiful soul, smiling face and another all around badass soul we are lucky to have at CrossFit Oakdale.
  3. To our coaches. Remember when I said we might have 500 burpees to do? Would you be willing to do 1 burpee for every $1 that gets donated in your name? Talk about not seeing the forrest through the trees. As a group we completed 3867 burpees, with Tim finishing his 845 and Denny & Brian hitting 500.

Workout of the Day
VetWOD Chipper
50 Thrusters 95/65
40 Overhead Squats 95/65
30 Toes to Bar
20 Front Rack Lunges (alternating) 95/65
10 Handstand Pushups
15 minute cap
Talk to coaches about scaling options.  VetWOD has a group of recommendations.  I have suggest using the time cap, and going as close to RX as possible on the Thrusters and OHS.
