Our spotlight athletes are Sarah Wade and Alex Barenchi. They are two super fun and strong ladies! They have been a great addition to our community. So here we go…..Have fun getting to know these two a little better.
How long have you been a member at CFO?
S- Just over 1 year!
A- Since April 2017, about 1 year. . .
How long have you been CrossFitting?
S- Just over a year as well. CFO has been my gateway into CrossFit
A – For about 4 years
How were you introduced to CFO? When did you realize CrossFit was for you?
S- Sara Hannah (now Giles) and I played soccer together and she had been telling me to come try CrossFit for almost a whole year before I finally agreed to come check it out. I knew on day 1 that it was something I was going to really like. No turning back!
A- I saw the gym at other CrossFit competitions that I had been at. I knew I’d like CrossFit the first day I tried it.
What advice would you give to somebody just starting CrossFit?
S- Be patient and kind to yourself. Have fun and embrace the community!
A-Give it time, this stuff takes practice.
What do like best about going to CrossFit Oakdale?
S- the people! It’s seriously the best group of folks that go out of their way to make you feel welcome every single day.
A- Brian’s humor. . .
I have always wanted to…..
S- Backpack Spain!
A- Marry Sarah Wade . . . It’s been a goal for years.
One word people use to describe me:
S- Outgoing
A- Awkward
Outside of the gym I like to…..
S- travel, read, cook, listen to/play music
A- RAGE.
Three things in my fridge:
S- Spinach, eggs and La Croix
A- Whatever Sarah buys at the grocery store
The last thing you ate:
S- 1 gallon of coffee
A- Prosciutto and Gouda
Something no one knows about me or would be surprised to know:
S- I hate popcorn. In a visceral way.
A- I’m not actually a serious person. I’m just shy and awkward.
Favorite physical activity outside of CrossFit Oakdale:
S- Snowboarding. I love, love, love it!
A- Cycling.
Favorite place to eat:
S- Raw Sushi or Bauhaus
A- Bauers
Proudest accomplishment:
S- Graduating college twice with honors
A- Convincing Sarah to marry me
If you could invite anybody to dinner:
S- Ruth Bader Ginsburg
A- Alison and Brian Huberty (when y’all free?)
Favorite workout attire:
S- super not picky as long as theres a headband involved, but probably just t-shirt and crops of some sort.
A- lulu pants and a cut off tee (suns out, guns out)
What kind of music do you like to work out to?
S- I like Alison’s selections usually, indie pop stuff orrrrr 90’s hip hop.
A- 90’s pop, cue destiny’s child
Where is your Favorite vacation destination?
S- Thailand
A- Cancun, drinks on the beach all day!
What is your favorite and least favorite CrossFit movement?
S- favorite is probably cleaning, least favorite is T2B or double unders
A- least favorite- ANYTHING DUMBELL. Favorite- snatches or clean and jerks
What did you do growing up that got you into trouble?
S- I wasn’t much of a troublemaker, but probably bickering with my younger sister.
A- talking back. Too much sass in these pants.
