NEW “PALEO” Challenge! The newest Paleo/Nutrition/whatever you prefer to call it challenge will be a little different this time. We are very excited to be doing the Lurong Living Paleo Challenge (the tab is on the left side of our website). The basics of this challenge are a whole ‘nother post, see so we will give you the fuller details on Wednesday night (for Thursday’s WOD). The basics – you can begin signing up on August 16, the Challenge begins on September 16 and runs for 8 weeks. It costs $50, and if we get 20 people to sign up, we can create a team, and work together in competing against other CrossFit affiliates. There are a lot more details. Feel free to read for yourself on the Lurong website.
On August 31st, CFO will perform the not yet announced Hotshot 19 CrossFit WOD in support of the Granite Mountain Hotshots that lost their lives fighting a fire in Yarnell, AZ on 6/30/2013. We will be asking for a $10 donation on the day of the WOD. All proceeds will go to the CrossFit Kids Foundation, which will donate 100% of the earning to the families of the fallen Hotshots. If you would like to donate on your own, please do so here. CrossFit Oakdale is proud to count several firefighters among our ranks. Let’s support those that do so much to keep us safe.
On September 3rd, the day after Labor Day, we will start an unbroken Wallball challenge. This challenge will end on September 30 with a Wallball Stand off, where we will see how many WB we can do unbroken. More details to come.
Saturday, September 7th will be another Total-ly CrossFit lifting session. The session will be the Olympic Total – 3 attempts at the Snatch and the Clean and Jerk. We will run this event just like a real meet. You will submit your opening lift, and we will set the bar for you, and and athlete will lift every minute. If you have a singlet, wear it!
September 14 is Caffeine and Kilos – we’re looking to put together a Master’s Team. If you’re over 40 and looking to compete, let’s get it!
September 28th is the Bat Cave Games (cool name) in Natomas, CA. I am considering competing in this event. Wes Balbi is hosting this at his gym and it’s not too far away. If you’re looking to compete, this may be a good one to get into.
