This is another challenging workout. The dumbbells will add something – as they did last week. It will also present the opportunity to get your first muscle-up or pull-up. Come out Friday night, and let that atmosphere carry you.  Some strategy tips: Compared to last week this is a relatively short workout. You will want to be very warm before you start. A good sweat and warmed up legs are going to be very important. The first time you get out of breath should not be in the second round of this workout. Make sure you breathe hard in your warm up. Friday is another “Friday Night Lights” event and it’s going down in our hood!  So let’s be sure we represent in full force with the supportive, fun and large group I know we have here at Crossfit Oakdale.  Whether you workout that night or not- we still would love to have our members attend.  Some amazing things always happen with the energy is high, the cheering is on point, the music is blasting, and the lights are shining down!  We will have a fantastic DJ, and though he doesn’t tend to play outlaw country, Jeff is still a guy who knows his jams- Lucas and I got some sweet dance moves on last Friday.  We will also have Vic’s BBQ, so no need to stress of fixing dinner, or grabbing a bite before coming- the food will be on the spot… you may want to bring your favorite beverage though… wink wink....

OBE – Overcome By Events Since the calendar turned 2017, I’ve been actively engaged at work.  For the last 8 years or so, I’ve written a daily post about CrossFit.  In the last month or so, I’ve been lucky to have written anything at all.  CrossFit stuff, anyway.  I will tell you, I spend all day writing. As I type, I’m reminded of 17.1.  It’s hard not to be reminded of it – the tightness in my back is a constant reminder!  17.1 was the grunty-est of grunt workouts we have seen in the Open.  Ever.  2 new movements for the Open, the first time we used dumbbell’s, all in a monstrosity of a workout. 17.1 is almost in the bag – please make sure you enter your scores in by 5pm Monday. I can give you  a 5am deadline if you are like my kids and need a little more motivation.  On Friday night we will be holding our own Friday Night Lights. We will be hosting CrossFit Sonora,  CrossFitQuake, CrossFit Rapid Fire, CrossFit Excel and ResidentCrossFit. Big Vic’s BBQ will be there selling their AWESOME BBQ and DJ Jeff (aka photographer Jeff) will be making sure we move fast with some sweet beats.  Doors will open at 5:15 and heats will start at 6pm and go until sweat covers the floor.
