Austin, Damon, Amie and Victoria took on the challenge of CrossFit Day the the Oakland A’s game.  Being CrossFit folks, we can’t do stuff normal, we have to make it an event. Austin, Damon, Amie and Victoria each had particular challenges.  For Damon, this was his first competition, ever.  For Austin, he got sucked into 3 weeks of work after committing to the event, and wasn’t able to train.  Amie and Victoria have been training hard since coming off the Royal Rumble but Clean and Jerks at 125 were either way beyond, or just at their fingertips. Victoria and Amie crushed the burpee/DU part of the event, while Austin and Damon took on 185 pound Clean and Jerks.  In the days proceeding,  both gents were able to make the lift, but it was a fight.  Once the 3-2-1 go came, the slowly but surely pulled out 23 reps. On Sunday we will be cheering on Amie, Austin, Damon and Victoria as they compete at the Oakland A’s CrossFit Day Competition. Entrance into the ballpark: 8:30-9am: Teams will enter the stadium through MM gate, located on the east side of the stadium, next to the Bart bridge. 9am: Once all teams are checked in, we will begin a rule meeting to explain the movements, bracketing and other pertinent information. 915am: following the rules meeting, we will allow the public to enter the spectator section. Bracket winners: 1 seed Hoosiers advances past Rad in a laugh-er.  Norman Dale, Shooter and Jimmy Chitwood beat whoever was in Rad.  I haven’t even IMDB’ed it.  Sorry. 2 seed Raging Bull knocks out a dog that plays basketball. 3 seed White Men Can’t Jump wins and goes to Sizzler. The Mighty Ducks take down the San Joaquin cross county runners from McFarland – don’t feel sorry for Costner, he’s got plenty more movies in the bracket. In the battle of Texas High School Football Movies, Billy Bob and the Perriman Panthers (Friday Night Lights) take down Jon Voight’s…whatever they were in Varsity Blues. Did you have fun in the Open? Do you love when we say “pick a partner” and split up your workout on those challenging hero workout days? Well, CrossFit’s Team Series is coming up! Teams of 2 people and 2 weeks of workouts. Similar to the Open, you have 5 days to complete the workouts, and you can do them HERE! On Wednesday, we will do a lift that that we do ALL. THE. TIME. in the warm ups.  But I cannot remember ever doing it in a workout – the muscle snatch.  Here’s why.  I have noticed some receiving the bar with soft elbows. This lift fixes that.  The muscle Snatch also forces you to keep pulling all the way through the lift.  This lift is a violent pull against the ground – you will triple extend and pull, pull and pull.  At some point you will fail – you will either miss the lift, or pull into a power position. I would rather you pull your body down than give up on the lift.  When you miss, the bar will usually stop moving around your eyeballs.  And you will look…wonky.  If you have a lift that looks wonky, that is fine.
