Athlete Spotlight: Thomas

Thomas G is in the Spotlight!
How were you introduced to CFO? When did you realize CrossFit was for you?
I once attended an unnamed CrossFit gym where Alison and Brian coached and trained. Once I decided I wanted to get back into CrossFit, web I learned Alison and Brian had opened their own gym through Facebook. There was no other choice, I knew where I wanted to go and where would be the best for me.
It was love at first sight for me. Even though it is frustrating for several months when the movements just don’t click, but once it all started flowing it became an addiction.
What is your first impression?
CFO is full of nothing but great people and Jake (let’s see if anyone proof reads this and takes that out, total joke though, Jake is awesome). It’s staying. You’re showing Jake some love. Everyone does an amazing job at making you feel welcome and part of the group from day one. I hope everyone gets that feeling when they come in for the first time!
What do you like best about going to CrossFit Oakdale?
My favorite thing about going into CFO is the friendships. Every day I get to come in, workout with a bunch of friends, then an hour later want to lie down and cry with all of them. I also really like the running workout days, because I can usually beat Brian. I don’t care if it is a foot race to the bathroom, if I can beat Brian that’s a huge feat. Dude’s a beast and an awesome guy.
I have always wanted to…..
The first thing that comes to mind probably isn’t the best answer for this. So I will just go with scuba dive.
One word people use to describe me:
I don’t know, ask someone else.
Outside of the gym I like to…..
Take long walks on the beach, enjoy romantic candle light dinners, and go on weekend get a ways filled with endless conversation. By the way I’m single girls!
Three things in my fridge:
Beer, Ketchup, and peanut butter (all of which are probably expired)

The last thing you ate:
A Grilled chicken burrito from the local taquiera.
Something nobody knows about me or would be surprised to know:
I have no clue. I’ll pass on this question.
Favorite physical activity outside of CrossFit Oakdale:
I really enjoy cycling, although I hardly ever get to ride anymore.
Favorite place to eat:
Anything Mexican that has good chips and salsa. Cold beer is a must as well.
Proudest accomplishment:
Graduating from Fresno State was pretty cool; I think getting sworn in at SPD tops that though.
If you could invite anybody to dinner:
I would love to invite Taylor Swift over to dinner. Then I would be a jerk and throw her out of my house, so she would write a song about how mean I am. Having Taylor Swift write a song about me would then become my proudest accomplishment.
Favorite workout attire:
The American Flag outfit I wore to the Memorial Day ‘Kevin’s Climb’ WOD, has to be my favorite.
CrossFit Goals: (I added this because I think it’s important to put your goals out there, so everyone can help push you towards achieving them) GO THOMAS GO!! 2014:
5 unbroken muscle-ups
185# hang squat clean (this is a lofty goal)
I really enjoy teaching, so I would love to coach at some point. So taking the level 1 course this year would be awesome.
2015:
Help CFO qualify a team for regional’s, and of course be on that team.
