An AMRAP Double Double

I’m not sure how many people check the CrossFit Journal anymore.  Even as recently as 2010, more about it was the GO TO place for fitness related material.  I admit, I don’t spend as much time on the site as I used to.  I would attribute this to the fact that even within the CrossFit site, the Games and Community sites have grown.  Add to the fact that dozens, if not hundreds, of CrossFit affiliates are putting out their own high quality content daily, kind of minimizes the role of the Journal.

I don’t know if CFHQ will strike me with a bolt of lightning, but the content is not a great as it was a couple of years ago.  That’s probably because great content suppliers like Kelly Starrett and Carl Paoli have struck out on their own.

BUT…there is still great stuff on the CrossFit Journal.  I just totally peeked out over Matt Chan’s 5 part piece on nutrition.  I HIGHLY recommend checking this out.  These 5 minute episodes are dense with competition related fitness knowledge.  You will need to be well versed in the Zone to fully understand this piece.  As I have focused on building strength over the last 5 months, I have not maximized my nutrition as much as I do during “games season.”  Matt provides an excellent template in planning nutrition for a competitive CrossFit athlete.

Ryan Deadlifted his body weight 5 times tonight and then learned handstand pushups. Great job Ryan!
