Nick Z finished 19th at the 2013 OC Throwdown this weekend, drug beating out CrossFit Games veterans, top level Regional athletes and other beasts. This is a great accomplishment – in my opinion, the programming was as challenging, if not more so, than a CrossFit Regional event. Nick finished 2nd in an absolutely brutal 7k run with a 70 pound sandbag. This was a grueling physical and mental test – one that Nick kicked in the nuts.
The CrossFit Oakdale dance card is filling up. Here are the weekend events for the next month:
January 19-20 – We are heading down to a CrossFit Kids event in LA – Hannah W is on the wait list for “The Gauntlet” and there is a kids obstacle course. This event is full, but we’re heading down to check out the craziness at the fitness expo.
January 26th- Barbarian Strength and Conditioning is hosting a partner competition. Jen/Christine and Lou/Brian are headed out to take it on. There is a scaled division, so it you’re interested, sign up.
On Feb 2 (and hopefully Feb 3) Team CFO has several athletes competing in the FTF affiliate challenge in Fresno. We need to get our team worked out. We’ll be holding a tryout Friday and Saturday. It will only be one workout, and Team CFO will be made up of the highest scores. I want to compete on the team, but I am trying out. I’ll explain more how this will work this week. There are also individual, scaled and master’s divisions. Get on it!
On Feb 9, there is the Valentines Couple Challenge at CrossFit Combat Fitness.
That’s A LOT of competing in a short time! If you are interested in these events, I would suggest adding them as a part of your training. I would NOT taper. The goal is still the Open, but these should be fun ways to test your fitness, have some fun and hopefully take home some hardware!
