In May of 2009, I attended the NorCal Regionals in Aromas, CA to cheer on my husband, Brian. I was blown away by the ability of the women who were competing. They were strong, beautiful and graceful. I was a stay-at-home mom of three little boys, struggling with a thyroid disorder. After that weekend all I wanted to do was a pull-up. I started CrossFit the next day. Within 6 months I had attended my Level 1 Certification and then CrossFit Kids Certification within 9 months.
In December of 2011, Brian and I Opened CrossFit Oakdale with hopes of bringing a healthy lifestyle and competitive spirit to Oakdale, CA.
CrossFit has not only given me a healthier and happier me, but has surrounded me with people who want to be better not only in sport but in life. I am proud of our coaches and the Athletes who are a part of CrossFit Oakdale.
Chris joined the Air Force in July 2003 as an Avionics Technician, and actively serves as a Flight Chief for Air Force Recruiting. He is married and the father of 3 children all of which were adopted from the foster care system. While in the Air Force he has always strived for excellence earning him top honors such as Senior Airman Below the zone, Maintenance professional of the year, Airman Leadership School leadership award, and Non-commissioned officer of the year to name a few. He had a passion for athletics/strength training at an early age, and played Football, Basketball, and Ice-Hockey in high school as well as for various Air Force base teams wherever stationed.
Although Chris was introduced to Olympic lifting in high school, and has always done some form of cross training in the Air Force he did not officially start Crossfit until August 2013. It was truly love at first “WOD” (sight)! He hit the ground running and has no plans of ever looking back. As an athlete he always gives 110% and looks to not only better himself but those around him as well. With his military background, passion for Crossfit, and hunger for excellence he decided to pursue coaching.
“Crossfit has not only re-kindled a passion for fitness but the drive to constantly improve myself both professionally and personally. I want more than anything to share this gift I have been given with the athletes of Crossfit Oakdale, and hopefully be a part of helping others achieve their goals! I look forward to helping you in the near future.”
I have always been sporty/active. Growing up I did dance, softball, tennis and skateboarded as well as snowboarder in my "downtime". I graduated Chico State with a BA in Art Studio- emphasis in large scale sculpture. It wasn't until I had my first son that I acquired my CrossFit Level 1 Trainer as well as my Personal Training Certification. I'd like to think I still create sculptural art, currently in the form of muscle building and mental breakthroughs of unrealistic weakness either for me, personally, or by coaching others.
My 2 boys Johnny and Lucas are my wingmen- I CrossFitted through both pregnancies so they've been tagging along while I WOD since the beginning of time...as they known it. Then there is my hubby John who has been on the CrossFit journey with me since we started about 2008 as conditioning for MMA. He is my everything and we've enjoyed this lifestyle of fitness, health and fun together!
